BRIEF

To transform an unused corner of a Guernsey farmhouse bedroom into a luxurious ensuite that felt authentic to the property’s character while adding modern comfort and practicality. The design needed to maximise space without compromising on elegance, creating a seamless, tailored addition to the existing room.

GUERNSEY FARMHOUSE

DESIGN

This farmhouse ensuite was conceived as a quiet, elevated retreat — compact yet beautifully detailed. Soft panelled walls, a heritage-inspired palette, and bespoke joinery ground the design in the home’s traditional charm. Every element was carefully planned to enhance flow and function, from the placement of the bath beneath the eaves to the handcrafted cabinetry that provides discreet storage.

A striking freestanding bath, with a hammered copper and nickel finish, becomes the centrepiece — reflecting light and texture while celebrating craftsmanship. Natural materials and gentle contrasts between warm metals and cool neutrals create a sense of calm sophistication.

The result is a timeless blend of old and new — an ensuite that feels both considered and characterful, bringing understated luxury to this reimagined corner of the farmhouse.

GARDINER SMITH

“We wanted this ensuite to feel as though it had always belonged — an effortless extension of the farmhouse, yet quietly luxurious. By working with the natural proportions and materials, we were able to craft a space that’s intimate, elegant, and full of personality.”
