BRIEF

To create a calm, luxurious snug that felt private yet connected to the garden — a space designed for relaxation, reading, and quiet evenings in. The design needed to feel tailored and refined, with layers of warmth, texture, and understated detail that would make it both inviting and memorable.

SUBURBAN SNUG

DESIGN

This snug was designed as a serene hideaway, blending soft neutral tones with richly layered materials. Elegant panelled walls set the tone, bringing structure and calm to the space, while a concealed door within the panelling opens to reveal views of the landscaped garden — a subtle touch of magic that enhances the sense of retreat.

A bespoke built-in media unit anchors the room with practical sophistication, complemented by carefully selected furnishings and accents in natural textures and earthy tones. The overall palette is quiet and considered, allowing light, shadow, and tactile detail to take centre stage.

The result is a cocooning, timeless sanctuary — beautiful by day, atmospheric by night — where comfort and craftsmanship come together effortlessly.

GARDINER SMITH

“This room was designed to feel like an escape — a place where you could completely unwind. The secret door adds an element of discovery, while the layering of textures and tones creates warmth and depth. It’s a small space with big personality, designed for both calm and connection.”
